Summer Vacation 2025 - Cancelled (2)

Once I had rested after my 14 hours sojourn between triage and major investigations, I started to work through the list of bookings I had already made for this trip.

Le Shuttle was the easiest and could be done online. That they stiffed us for £36 to change from one low season date to another low season date says more about their business than anything. No humans involved and I did all the work for them.

The two Camping-Car Park bookings were easily enough cancelled, although it needed a WhatsApp chat to get it done as it can't be done through the newly updated app on the phone. It needed a Messenger message to their Facebook social media team to get the WhatsApp link.  The cost of the two aires was credited back to my account in minutes.

The other campsite bookings took a little longer.  The site in Belgium that I booked through the Caravan Club had been paid in full. Firstly a deposit in January and then the full payment in April.  I am to receive two payments that amount to around £15 so we have only lost around £5 for the cancellation.

The one that is still hanging on is the four nights at la Nubliere in Annecy. I emailed them to ay I was ill and had been in hospital. Nothing.  I emailed a reminder a few days later and got a reply to say it has been passed to the central cancellations dept.  That was 5 days ago and still silence is golden.  I expect to lose the deposit I had paid in any case as I didn't take out the expensive "insurance" to allow free date changes.

Irish Ferries who we booked for the return crossing also came back quickly to accept that we needed to change the crossing and then they went a little silent. I gave them a new date and time.  They came back about 20 minutes ag as I an blogging to say it will be £25 to make the change. I have accepted and now need to know how to pay.

So that's where we are now.
