Wyatts Covert Weekend

This trip was a chance to get away after the disappointment of cancelling our holiday to France.

Another reason was that I was determined to attend the National League Promotion Final at Wembley Stadium.

With the London Underground system in chaos for the weekend and the Mayor being his usual belligerent self and refusing to intervene, capacity at the Stadium was reduced to around 50000 of the possible 90000 capacity.

In the end I got a ticket.  I was still not fully fit.

Looking for an alternative way to get to the Stadium I saw that Chiltern Railways had a service stopping at Wembley Stadium Station!

Tracing back along the line I saw Denham. Opening another window opened and the Caravan Club had a site at.... Denham.

I booked two nights. The site is alleged 25 to 30 minutes walk to the station. Much it seemingly on a road with no footpath.  Given my health. I decided on a taxi.

We had a reasonable drive up on Saturday with our lunch and coffee stop, plus comfort break at Cobham Services on the M25. Arriving around 3pm or so. Some heavy congestion around the M3 to M4 junctions though held us up.

Once checked in we quickly set up. Awning wound out. The electric here is on a metered connection. An account needs creating and money paid in. I put £10 onto it. The pitch cost £43 a night which is very high considering electric isn't included.

The site is quite noisy as it is right by Denham Airfield. Small plane and helicopter movements. You soon get used to it.

On Saturday I booked a cab for 1245 on Sunday to go to the station. I had already bought tickets for the journey to Wembley at a cost online for £6.50. The guy arrived and all was well.

The game went well - report on my other blog.

Once back at the van we had dinner and an early night.  For once. I was totally knackered.

Monday we left around 11am. I unhooked the electricity and checked the dashboard and found we had used around £2.40 worth of electricity. After all we had only had the fridge on and occasional use of the kettle and briefly the air fryer.

I hot an email timed at 1.32pm to say "Your power supply at Wyatts has been disconnected."

Only about two and a half hours after we had disconnected.  I know it's a trial but a bit more accuracy would be better than this nonsense.

Once home I logged in again and pressed the "refund" button to take back the over £7.60 I was in credit. I was credited quickly but actually took 3 days to show on my online banking.

Would we stay there again? I doubt it. Unless we get to Wembley again!
